Desire. It’s the big one in spirituality. Most paths recommend to avoid it altogether…overcome desire, avoid temptation and then you can Realise.
So the monastic life is designed to reduce desire by eliminating temptations altogether. When you have no sex, no shops, no women (or men if you’re a nun), no alcohol and no exotic food… your desire diminishes because there is nothing TO desire! And you can focus on prayer or meditation..
But how to live in the world, and yet achieve spiritual progress? Can we attain higher states of consciousness in this sea of desire?. Tantra is the path that works with desire. It not only avoids it, but it actually uses the power of desire to fuel spiritual growth. Ingenious!!! It is often compared to the metaphor of the lotus that needs mud in order to blossom…no mud, no lotus. Use the muddiness of your human desire to cultivate higher states of awareness, says tantra.
Remember, there is nothing wrong with the desire just for physical sex! It is the fertile soil for growth. It is the root of the tree. It is the mud from which the lotus flower blossoms. So long as you think there us something wrong with it, you will never move beyond it. Evolving is not a rejection of any part of your journey; it is a continual desire for growth. . So embrace desire! Drop guilt and judgement. Forgive yourself and those who conditioned you to judge. See the innocence of desire. Meditate on desire. Feel the energy of desire. Enter the tantric journey of the purification of desire, and find out where it leads you…the sufis say that all desire is merely the desire to reunite with God! . “TO BURN WITH DESIRE AND KEEP QUIET ABOUT IT IS THE GREATEST PUNISHMENT WE CAN BRING ON OURSELVES.” ― FEDERICO GARCIA LORCA hands-reaching JOIN THE COURSES: TAOTANTRICARTS.COM FIND THE MOVIE: SEXTOSPIRIT.COM JOIN THE ONLINE COMMUNITY: LIVETANTRA.COM
